Building one platform for five reproductive health organisations
International Planned Parenthood Federation needed five Member Association websites, each with its own identity, content, and audience, run from one maintainable system. We built a shared WordPress block-theme platform that gave every site its own look while cutting the team's content workload by 90 percent.

Project Overview
International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a global reproductive health federation operating through Member Association networks in multiple countries. This project served five of those Member Associations - FPOP, FGAEET, FPAMalawi, RHU, and ABPF - bringing them onto one shared WordPress block-theme platform. We built a modular framework that lets each site keep its own brand identity while sharing a common technical foundation, cutting content update time by 90 percent and doubling page speed across the network.
Designed to create a scalable, accessible, and trust-focused multi-site platform
A global reproductive health federation with Member Association networks across multiple countries.
Advancing public health through digital innovation and strategic healthcare solutions.
Healthcare web development for complex clinical workflows and patient engagement.
Localized healthcare solutions across five countries and three continents for impact.
Scalable WordPress architecture powering secure and modern digital healthcare ecosystems.
Ensuring universal access to vital healthcare information through inclusive experiences.

Five organisations, one technical foundation
International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) is a global reproductive health federation operating through Member Association networks in multiple countries. Each Member Association runs its own country programme with its own branding, services, and local context. Before this project, each site had grown independently with no shared system, meaning every content update, design change, and fix had to be repeated five times - often by staff without development training.
Scalable Multi-Site Architecture for Global Impact
Architected around a custom WordPress block-based system designed to provide individual member associations with complete creative autonomy while maintaining a centralized core for technical and accessibility standards.
Built a custom WordPress block theme with a centralised core for navigation patterns, accessibility baseline, and content structures.
Added a per-site customisation layer for colours, typography, layout choices, and imagery - each Member Association keeps its own identity.
Designed block-based editing tools so communications staff at each Member Association can update pages directly without developer support.
Audited and migrated 50+ existing pages from each site into the new block format, checking old URLs before launch.
Optimised performance across all five sites, achieving roughly twofold improvement in page load times on desktop and mobile.
Established a single-codebase maintenance model - updates and security fixes roll out to every site at once.
Built accessible UI/UX patterns that adapt across all five sites without duplicating development effort.
Four pillars of the platform vision
The goal was to bring five independently managed websites onto one maintainable platform without flattening them into identical templates.
One Platform, Five Identities
Each Member Association needed its own visual identity and content - but five separate codebases were not sustainable.
Editor Independence
Communications staff needed to update content directly without waiting on a developer for routine changes.
Large-Scale Migration
More than 50 pages of programme information, clinic details, and resources had to move without breaking links or losing content.
Performance Across All Sites
Reproductive health information needs to load reliably for visitors on a wide range of devices and connections.
Defining the Challenges
Five brands, one framework: balancing individual identity with shared infrastructure across a global health network.
Supporting five distinct brand identities through one unified framework.
Migrating 50+ pages with zero data loss or broken links.
Enabling per-site design control without custom code forking.
Enabling non-technical staff to manage content independently.
Global performance optimized for all devices and connection speeds.
Outcome-Driven Solutions
Addressing multi-brand identity requirements, content migration complexity, performance needs, and editor independence.
Built a reusable WordPress block theme deployed across all five Member Association sites from a single codebase.
Centralised architecture with dynamic styling controls - each site sets its own colours, typography, and layout independently.
Block-based editing so communications staff can update programme pages, clinic information, and resources without touching code.
50+ pages audited, restructured into block format, and verified against old URLs to prevent broken links.
Performance optimisation delivering roughly twofold improvement in page load times across the network.
Creating a Smarter Multi-Site Healthcare Experience
A responsive and accessibility-focused multi-site platform designed to serve diverse audiences while maintaining brand identity and performance across five Member Association websites.

The transformation delivered measurable impact.
Five Member Association sites now run on one platform, each with its own branding and content, maintained by one shared technical foundation.
Faster page load times across the network
Less time needed to publish and update content
Pages migrated and restructured
